The Southern League (Part 4) 2006 – 2007
For the 2006/2007 season the FA moved the club across the pyramid from the Isthmian to the Southern League Premier Division.
Mark Gill, who had coached successfully at Uxbridge, was recruited by Gordon Bartlett to take on a coaching role at Wealdstone. In so doing Gilly brought with him several players from Uxbridge, most notably Chris O’Leary, who would become a club stalwart for some seasons and a great favourite with the Stones fans.
This season began an arrangement with Watford FC for Wealdstone to take on loan promising young players from the Vicarage Road Club in order to get them used to “adult” football. Forward Theo Robinson and midfielder John-Joe O’Toole had spells at the club during this season and both went on to enjoy successful full time footballing careers.
The team played 53 competitive matches in total that season. In the league they played 42 games, won 13, drew 9 and lost 20, scoring 69 goals and conceding 82. A further 11 Cup matches were played of which 4 were won, 1 drawn and 6 lost.
