Chelmsford City 2 – 1 Wealdstone

2 - 1
A WONDER-GOAL from Lee O’Leary could not prevent Wealdstone bowing out of the Bryco Cup on Tuesday, with Chelmsford grabbing a last minute winner.
The hosts controlled the first half and created enough opportunities to put the game beyond doubt. But for the heroics of young keeper Mich Swain, Wealdstone would have been buried before the break.
Having weathered the storm, Wealdstone looked the better side in the second period. So it was ironic that they should go behind on 51 minutes. Garry Cross slamming a loose ball through a crowd of players to open the scoring for City.
Wealdstone were not behind for long and the equaliser was sublime. On 68 minutes, O’Leary staked his claim for goal-of-the-season, letting fly with a breathtaking volley from the edge of the area. Chelmsford keeper Nicholls could only look on in disbelief and admiration.
However, O’Leary’s moment of magic would be in vain, Edwards scoring a 90th-minute winner after good work by substitute Lay. The goal looked suspiciously offside, compounding the agony for a youthful and spirited Stones side.
