Brook House 0 – 1 Wealdstone

WEALDSTONE made hard work of beating a spirited Brook House side in Tuesday’s Middlesex Senior Cup tie, but although the score is not a true reflection of the game, it’s the right result.
Ben Alexander and Jermaine Beckford especially will wonder how their names aren’t on the scoresheet more than once, as a combination of hurried finishing, bad luck and good goalkeeping, especially during a one sided opening 20 minutes, kept it blank.
Beckford hit the woodwork twice – an audacious lob from 25 yards smacked against the bar after ten minutes, before a pass across goal by Wozniac came off the striker’s outstretched leg but hit a post.
Attacks from the home side were rare. Andy Carter had one save of consequence to make in each half to thwart the lively Wall, and late on substitute and former Stone Leenders lobbed wide with the keeper out of position.
Just as the crowd were beginning to think of extra time, the deadlock was finally broken.
Brian Jones put the ball into the box from the left and Gary McKeown stabbed it home from close range.
Beckford and Alexander continued to cause havoc in the Brook House defence and Leenders might have done better with the lob but a draw would have been an injustice.
