WEALDSTONE came out 2-0 winners in a bad-tempered match that saw the home team finishing with just nine men.

The visitors started off brightly and went into a 1-0 advantage after just three minutes.

Rob Courtnage’s throw-in found Ben Alexander whose fine pass to Richard Jolly allowed the top scorer to slot past the advancing keeper.

Soon after a powerful Jason Shaw shot struck the post.

At the other end, a timely tackle from Jason Shaw denied Carl Drew a shot on goal.

Arlesey should have scored when Midson’s header went wide.

The hard working Ben Alexander put Danny Tilbury through but his shot was blocked by Patching.

Stones were denied a penalty when Danny Tilbury was tripped in the box.

A minute before the break, a Dave Ryan free-kick took a wicked deflection and it seemed to be going in until Arlesey’s man-of-the-match Patching made an excellent reflex save.

Five minutes into the new half, the home side were reduced to ten men when Carl Drew was sent-off for elbowing Rob Courtnage.

Seventeen minutes later, they went down to nine when former Stone Matt Courbold was shown the red card for elbowing the same Wealdstone player.

The impressive Gary McKeown suffered a dead leg and was replaced by Tommy Williams.

In the 75th minute Richard Jolly put sub Marvin Morgan through but his effort was saved by Patching’s legs at the expense of a corner.

The resulting corner by Rob Courtnage saw Patching punching clear only as far to Dave Ryan who made no mistake this time as he headed over the home keeper to make it 2-0.

A minute into injury time Arlesey were awarded a penalty after Andy Carter was alleged to have fouled Blackett, possibly for a high tackle, but the popular visiting keeper was not even cautioned.

Up stepped Jack Midson, whose spot-kick was well saved by Carter.
