They don’t like goals in this fixture, as Yeovil Town and Wealdstone played out their third consecutive 0-0 draw, at a chilly Huish Park on Tuesday evening.

A third consecutive red card also marred the match-up, with Yeovil’s Owen Bevan sent-off ten minutes into the second half. But as Yeovil failed in the return fixture, Wealdstone also couldn’t make the most of the man advantage.

Stones boss Stuart Maynard made three changes on his 101st game in charge, handing a first start to new signing Corie Andrews, whilst Micah Obiero and Miguel Freckleton returned to the eleven.

Wealdstone were the dominant side in the first half and had a great chance early on when Brooklyn Ilunga played in Tarryn Allarakhia, whose fierce shot was fingertipped over by Grant Smith, although a goal kick was bizarrely given.

Andrew Oluwabori was a threat down the hosts right-wing and he was only denied by a last-gasp block from Jack Cook to open their account on 16 minutes.

Then early in the second half a fairly polite encounter took a turn when Bevan made a catastrophic two-footed lunge on Alex Dyer and was given his marching orders by the referee, the third red card in this fixture in the past three games.

It was Dyer who then nearly put the Stones ahead on the hour mark, with a fantastic solo run past three Yeovil players, before Smith tipped his effort wide.

The best chance of the game fell to Charlie Barker then had his own turn at a solo run, playing a nice one-two with Dom Hutchinson in the box before he saw Smith tip his effort onto the post.

Olufela Olomola was introduced against his former club late on and he smashed an effort into the side netting from a wide angle.

Fela’s fellow sub Hutchinson also dragged an effort wide of the goal on 90 minutes as the Stones just couldn’t quite break through a stubborn Yeovil backline.

WEALDSTONE: Howes, Cook (c), Barker, Freckleton, Ilunga, Habergham (Hutchinson 40), Dyer, Ferguson, Allarakhia (Olomola 81), Obiero (Kretzschmar 72), Andrews. Subs not used: Charles, Barrett.
