Farnborough 2 – 4 Wealdstone
2 - 4
Goals from Olufela Olomola, Tahvon Campbell and a late brace from a new trialist was enough for Wealdstone to see off National League South side Farnborough in a 4-2 win at the BR Saunders Transport Community Stadium on Saturday.
It was a quick start for Farnborough, as a shot from inside the box by Adam Mekki hit the crossbar in the second minute.
The Stones first proper chance of the game came from a scramble in the box that followed by a Jack Turner save to deny the visitors the opener.
Another strong chance from the Stones in the first half came from a bullet header by Micah Obiero, but he was denied by another great save from Farnborough’s keeper.
Half an hour in, a Farnborough long throw reached Ryan Upward who headed the ball onto the post.
With both teams looking equally as threatening throughout the first half, it was the Stones who opened the scoring only a couple minutes before the half-time whistle, courtesy of an Olomola goal.
Eight changes were made at half time, with only the trialist keeper, Charlie Barker and Jaydn Mundle-Smith remaining on the pitch.
It didn’t take long for Farnborough to find an equaliser, with a great finish from Alfie Pavey inside the box, four minutes after the restart.
Not only this, but Pavey went on to double his tally five minutes later after reaching a cross from Ricky Holmes.
A quick start to the second half as the Stones equalise courtesy of new signing Campbell with a shot from inside the box.
Another one of our trialists made a great impression on the management team with two goals in the space of two minutes, one of which was a superb shot from outside the box, to conclude the game and keep up the pre-season winning streak.
Wealdstone return to action on Tuesday 18th July back at home to face Billericay Town in a 7.45pm kick-off.
