Bromley 3 – 2 Wealdstone

Wealdstone visited Hayes Lane for the second time this season for the FA Cup fourth qualifying round. The two sides met at the start of the season, with the game resulting in a 1-1 draw following an early goal from Campbell.

Bromley played with a familiar face on Saturday afternoon, with Olufela Olomola leading the line following his move to the south London club a couple of weeks ago.

The Stones lined up with a slightly different line-up this week in comparison to the defeat at Kidderminster last weekend. Left back Brandon Mason joined the club this week, following a spell at Crawley Town, and began the game on the bench before coming on in the 63rd minute.

Cook, Ferguson and Adarkwa were dropped from the starting line-up to be replaced by Charles, Barrett and Kretzschmar, who captained the side.

The game opened up with a massive chance for the Stones after seven minutes, with a shot from Obiero denied by Bromley ‘keeper, Smith. Bromley got through on the counter courtesy of Olomola’s pace but Ward made the save to keep the scoreline level.

The scoreline only remained level for another minute before Alex Kirk scored a bullet header on his debut from a corner.

Less than ten minutes later, Bromley doubled their lead when Passley crossed the ball into Cheek who slotted it in.

Just after the half an hour mark, Bromley made it three when Olomola picked out Cheek who left the ball to Krauhaus who drove it forward and slotted it in. Fela carried on with his good form for the side and his low shot was saved by Ward.

Wealdstone came back out after half-time as a different side, starting positively with a shot from Campbell in the first minute from outside the box which went just wide.

Kretzschmar pulled one back when Barker’s shot was cleared off the line and he got onto the rebound.

Campbell then ran the ball up the right hand side following a Bromley set piece, weaving his way through the defence before crossing it into the box and having it cleared by the Ravens defence.

Bromley found the back of the net again in the 70th minute but a foul on the keeper meant it was disallowed.

The Stones then earned themselves a corner, where a Barker free header went over the bar.

Only a couple of minutes later, Mundle-Smith’s header from another corner is palmed over the bar before the next corner is passed into the hands of the Bromley ‘keeper.

The Stones kept having their chances as Abdulmalik’s shot went wide, Ferguson’s shot was saved and Campbell’s shot hit the side netting all in the space of seven minutes.

Two minutes into injury time, Wealdstone found their second courtesy of Ferguson, before quickly restarting play to try and find a third.

Unfortunately it wasn’t to be for the Stones as their two goals weren’t enough to keep them in the competition.

Wealdstone’s next game is Boreham Wood at home on Saturday 21st October, with a late kick-off of 5.30pm to be streamed on TNT Sports.
