Wealdstone picked up a comprehensive first win of pre-season after a 4-1 victory over Chesham United at The Meadow on Tuesday evening.

After a goalless first half the Stones opened the scoring with Craig Fasanmade, before the hosts equalised from the spot through Adam Martin. Matt Buse restored the lead minutes later before Rhys Browne and Trialist D sealed the win in the closing stages.

Stones boss Stuart Maynard started with one trialist this evening with Trialist A in goal once more. Jack Cawley and Dan Wishart both dropped to the bench after playing 90 minutes in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Bedford Town.

In a tight first half in which the hosts defended well, the Stones had the lions share of the chances. Josh Umerah just headed wide from close range midway through the first half.

Dennon Lewis was a constant threat down the left, carving out chances for Umerah and Fasanmade which were well blocked by Chesham defenders. The provider then had a chance of his own which he crashed off of the post.

The Stones remained unchanged going into the second half, keeping their momentum going from the first. And that patience was rewarded on 58 minutes when Browne carved an opening down the left before crossing low to Fasanmade who tapped in.

The Generals though gained a chance at an instant equaliser after their striker was knocked over in an off the ball incident. Martin stepped up and sent Trialist A the wrong way.

But Chesham were level for all of four minutes. Browne again crafted his own chance cutting in from the left, his effort was spilled by sub keeper Dave Pearce and Buse spoiled the leftovers, tapping in the rebound.

Academy prospects Eli Hearn and Tecane Shrowder were introduced toward the end and Shrowder made an instant impact, playing a pinpoint cross-field ball into Browne who took an excellent first touch, beat his man and smashed past Pearce to seal the game.

There was time for more action though. Umerah led a Stones counter attack, surging forward before drilling it wide to Andrew Eleftheriou, he crossed in for Trialist D who knocked in from close range in the last action of the game.

WEALDSTONE: Trialist A, Tavares (Hearn 79), Cook (Cawley 61), Okimo (c), Eleftheriou, Dyer (Trialist C 61), Buse (Shrowder 79), Browne, Lewis (Wishart 61), Fasanmade (Trialist D 61), Umerah. Unused sub: Trialist B (GK).
