Yeading 2 – 1 Wealdstone
2 - 1
Official?
Its difficult to summaries a game where those in charge on the pitch were so inconsistent, especially as we had the better of the match and should have won. Had the match not been altered so much by the officials, we might have done but we will never know.
Yeading’s first attack on four minutes brought a moment of hesitation in the Stones defence and as Miller knocked the ball past the challenging Andy Carter he was felled, moving away from goal and the ball a few yards in front. The penalty was awarded but most people in the ground, particularly in the conditions felt that a booking after four minutes was sufficient retribution for the goalkeeper. Mr Harvey felt otherwise and sent him off. The penalty duly scored, and Wealdstone’s ten men acquitted themselves well limiting Yeading to nothing more than a half chance for forty minutes, whilst going close through Hammatt, Moore and Swaysland themselves.
Ramsay was booked for kicking the ball way at a free kick – justified. what was not justified was that a number of similar offences from both sides went unpunished, although Gorman was booked for a foul. Yet just a few minutes later, an off the ball kick from the same player, connecting with Bryan Hammatt went un punished – the officials must have seen the offence as a free kick was awarded to Wealdstone.
Yeading’s second goal game with their second real attack, the ball cut back well to Telemaque who’s snap shot was good enough to beat Matt Perry in goal, he having replaced the unlucky Hercules when Carter was dismissed.
Despite further inconsistencies from the officials, Wealdstone battled well in the second half, and were unlucky on a couple of occasions, both Hammatt and Swaysland seeing shots return off the woodwork but in the 61st minute a heavy challenge from Ramsay brought his second yellow card and Stones were down to nine. Again though they pressed and forced a poor Yeading side totally lacking in invention onto the defensive. Stones won a corner and a half clearance was well returned by Moore on 75 minutes for Tilbury to head home, but despite continued pressure from an outnumbered Wealdstone side, Yeading held on to take the points as chants of Cheat Cheat rang out from the travelling support, in no doubt that they had been dealt with unfairly by the man charged with controlling the game.
Mistakes are unfortunate but they do happen and inconsistency between officials is very hard to manage and control. Inconsistency from one official between sides in one game…………………………………………you decide.

Yeading 2 Wealdstone 1
AN EVENTFUL game at The Warren saw a battling performance by nine-man Wealdstone that almost earned them a draw against promotion outsiders Yeading, writes Stephen Paull.
Throughout the game referee Harvey made a series of unpopular decisions with the Wealdstone fans, including the the sendings off of goalkeeper Andy Carter after only four minutes, and defender Kevin Ramsay for two bookings on the hour.
Carter went for bringing down Hall as he ran in on goal. The fall and the direction of the ball when knocked past Carter made the red card seem harsh. Substitute Matt Perry took over in goal after Carter’s dismissal and Miller beat the stand-in keeper from the spot.
Later in the half, Andre Scarlett fired just wide when well placed but just before the break, Yeading scored again.
Miller laid the ball back for Telemaque to fire a waist high volley which Stones’ John Deadman was unable to avoid the cruel deflection from his shoulder sent the ball into the net.
Ramsay then got his marching orders for a foul, after an earlier booking for holding on to the ball for too long as he ran back into position.
But even this didn’t deter Stones. The nine pressed forward at every opportunity. Danny Tilbury headed wide, Swaysland hit the bar from 25 yards and Bryan Hammatt knocked the rebound against the post.
Tunji Bamgbola came on for the last 15 minutes to replace Hammatt. Within a minute Stones pulled a goal back when Tilbury scored from a cross from Moore.
As the game reached its conclusion Yeading looked thankful to hold on.
