Windsor & Eton 0 – 3 Wealdstone
0 - 3
Stones fielded both of their deadline day signings in this match at Windsor, Homand and Hickie joining recent signings Miller and Francis in the line up, and they all played a part in Stones first goal after 21 seconds!
Homand played the ball forward to Holland, onto Hickie. Miller ran across the face of the Windsor area and created a space for Hickie’s pass to Francis, and he drilled the ball home from 12 yards to give Stones the perfect start.
Windsor looked a little shell-shocked and had to come out to attack to try and get back on level terms but with a swirling wind behind them, they made little impact. Carroll in the Stones goal was called on to make two excellent saves, both one on one as home forwards rushed onto the ball, but in both cases he coped well, while Stones new faces caught up with the speed of the game and looked more and more comfortable as the match progressed.
There were no further goals in the first half, but Stones looked intent on dominating the match as the second half started, forcing Windsor back almost from the kick off.
Stones second goal on 63 minutes came from a Windsor corner as Homand broke out of the Stones defence with the ball, and shaking off a couple of challenges ran fully 60 yards before feeding a pass to Francis who cut inside, rounded the keeper and slotted home Stones second.
Three minutes later and Burrell gave the travelling fans a repeat performance as he collected the ball on half way. Running forward, Francis pulled away to one side and a gap opened in the home defence. Burrell ran through and he too was able to round the keeper and slot in Stones third, effectively killing off the game and allowing Stones to steal a march on those around them with three valuable points.
