This mornings division leaders Berkhamsted, who had scored six and conceded none in two games were soon under pressure as Stones started brightly.

Early chances to Morgan and Swaysland went untaken though and as the half progressed the home side came more into the game. They opened the scoring on 18 minutes when good work from Smith saw him pull the ball back from the bye-line before firing past Godfrey. The lead was only to last five minutes however as Tilbury received the ball with his back to goal and his snap shot on the turn beat Webb to equalise. The remainder of the half was more even, Stones having slightly the better chances, until on 44 minutes, Swaysland controlled the ball on his chest and volleyed over the home keeper from fully twenty yards.

The second half was a different matter as Stones ran the game from the off showing far more of the pre-season promise and moving the ball well. Tucker saw a header just clear the bar before on 59 minutes a perfect cross from Swaysland was met with an excellent header from Marvin Morgan to extend Stones lead. Five minutes later and the compliment was repaid as Marvin had a hand in the pass that took Mickie Swaysland past the home defence to slot number 4 past the home custodian.

Although Stones continued to press, Berkhampstead defended solidly until on 89 minutes, an excellent ball from Morgan split the defence and Beckford ran through, dummied the keeper and calmly took the ball round him before rolling the ball in from ten yards for number 5 of a well deserved Stones victory.
