Wealdstone 4 – 1 Tilbury
4 - 1
A far better first half performance from a changed Stones side was enough to beat Tilbury.
Stones took the lead on 8 minutes when Martin Carter hit the bar from close in, Robin Tucker headed the loose ball back across the box and Richard Jolly stole in to score his first goal for the club.
On 11 minutes and from their first real attack though, Tilbury equalised when a cross inside the six yard box found Dominique and his header could only be palmed into the net by Andy Carter on his goal line. This did at least spark Stones a little more to life and on 16 minutes their pressure was rewarded when Jolly and Swaysland combined, Sways laying the ball out to Courtnage on the angle of the penalty box and his low shot beat the goalkeeper at his near post to restore Stones lead.
Three minutes later and it was 3 – 1 when Marvin Morgan slotted the ball home through a crowded box from 12 yards.
Stones kept up the pressure and Tilbury became a little more ragged and frustrated at the back as the pressure grew which resulted in Ray being booked just after the half hour, only to be dismissed for a second challenge on Morgan some five minutes later. Stones were to play against ten men for the eleventh time this season!.
The second half saw Stones have by far the greater amount of possession and Tilbury becoming a little more physical as time progressed and they used every means possible to break down Wealdstone attacks. There were a number of bookings and a number of challenges that only brought free kicks as Wealdstone tried to turn their advantage in possession and numbers into goals, but it was not until the last minute when Jolly collected a pass from tilbury to slot home for 4 – 1.
