Stones broke forward from the kick off and for the first few minutes forced the visitors onto the back foot.

Their bright start was rewarded after five minutes when Marvin Morgan ran onto a ball over the defence and was fouled in the penalty box by Draper who conceded a penalty which Mickie Swaysland scored to give Wealdstone an early lead.

It seemed as though Stones took their foot off the gas a little though, as for the rest of the half they struggled to break down the visitors defence, limited to half chances rather than clear attempts on goal. Carvell, Morgan and Swaysland could all have increased the lead, but the best effort came on the stroke of half time from Hertford.

When Stones failed to clear a cross it was half cleared to Cooper who struck an excellent volley from some distance only to see it cannon off the crossbar.

The second half started very much as the first had finished. This time though, it was former Stone Gabby Williams who saw a shot come back off the bar before it was cleared by Wealdstone.

The half followed a similar pattern with Stones lacking in the final third and creating little in front of goal, while Hertford slowly gained more possession as they fought to get even.

Substitutions on 67 minutes and a change in formation again turned the tide in Stones favour, but it was not till the 83rd minute that they increased their lead. Jason Shaw played the ball in behind the defence where Morgan ran on and attempted to chip the visiting keeper. He could only slow the ball down on its path towards goal and Danny Tilbury ran in to make sure with a header from two yards.

This caught Hertford cold and as Stones began to dominate they soon scored a third when Shaw hit a volley from 25 yards.

A minute later good work from Martin Carter, Mick Swaysland and a final ball from Marvin Morgan created a chance for Jermaine Beckford who scored Stones fourth with his first touch.

It could have been more though, as right on time another great cross saw Beckford put the ball in the back of the net again, only for the referee to judge it was handball.
