Wealdstone 3 – 0 East Thurrock United
3 - 0
A slightly subdued performance from Wealdstone but enough to beat the visitors from Essex who find themselves at the bottom of the table.
Stones played some good football and created a number of half chances, the best a snap shot from Marvin Morgan that hit the bar on twenty minutes, but the best that Thurrock could offer didn’t trouble David Godfrey who spent long periods of the game watching rather than being involved, in the Stones goal.
It wasn’t until the 40th minute that Stones broke the deadlock though, when a poor challenge on Morgan saw the visitors concede a penalty which Marvin took himself, just beating the dive from the visiting keeper.
The second half saw Stones Start brighter and they extended the lead on 54 minutes when a Mickie Swaysland shot came back from the post, Marvin Morgan reacting first to force the ball home to extend Stones lead. despite creating chances throughout the half it looked as though 2 – 0 was to be the end of the scoring.
When Morgan was replaced by Beckford, Stones lost the impetus a little but it was Beckford himself that scored the third goal. running on to a through ball, he beat one defender and under challenge from a second dummied the visiting goalkeeper and slotted home his second goal in as many games to make the final score 3 – 0 to Wealdstone.
