Wealdstone 2 – 2 Hemel Hempstead Town
2 - 2
A couple of changes in the starting line-up tonight for Wealdstone as Manager Gordon Bartlett looks to improve on Saturday’s defeat, and from the off it looks to have made the difference as Stones started brightly and dominated the early exchanges.
Stones took the lead on 16 minutes when a shot from Gavin Bamford rebounded to Dean Papali who made no mistake from close in, but despite further chances, Stones were unable to extend their lead before half time.
From the start of the second half though, it was a re-energised Hemel side that were on top of the game as they looked for an equaliser which eventually came on the 69th minute, Thomas’s effort deflected past Carroll. This did at least see Stones come back into the game, and they took the lead on 87 minutes when substitute Julian Edwards scored, but the lead was only to last into the final minute.
Stuart Bamford shepherded the ball out for a goal kick, only for the Referee to overrule his Assistant and award a corner and Hemel duly equalised…
A better performance but still some room for improvement as Stones move forward.
