Fisher Athletic LondonDave Ryan scored from a header in the 13th minute to put us 1-0 up. We played extremely well throughout the first half and well deserved or half-time lead – a two goal lead would have been no less than we deserved.
The interval break saw members of Mencap enjoy a penalty competition which was well received by the crowd.
2nd half saw Fisher come out strong and they equalised in the 51st minute and went ahead in the 60th. Their 2nd goal was somewhat fortunate as what appeared to be a good clearance from a Stones defender hit a Fisher player and rebounded midway between a forward and Lee Carroll. Lee came rushing out and from the 50/50 challenge the ball again rebounded kindly to a Fisher player who shot. The diving Carroll saved this shot but again the ball rebounded to a Fisher player who shot home. It wasn’t long before a member of Fisher’s management team was sent off by the referee and had to be escorted away by stewards.
Shortly after, Gordon Bartlett made a triple substitution. Wealdstone pressurised and had a number of chances to equalise. Josh Cooper should have done better when he had a chance and Francis hit a post from close range with the keeper beaten. The keeper also made a great save from a Miller header. A few minutes from the end a Fisher player was sent off after head butting Lee Chappell – once again the stewards had to intervene and encourage him to leave the pitch and head towards the changing rooms.
All in all, we were unlucky.
