So at last the season began, and for both sides it was a tentative start, although Yeading found their feet sooner than Stones, causing early problems, Andy Carter called into action on a couple of occassions, once with an excellent one handed save, pushing a shot over the bar.

Stones did get into the game after riding early pressure and they too started to create chances, Jolly and Williams having long shots. The greatest threat seemed to be from set pieces and Stones made the break through on 24 minutes when Morgan scored from another Williams free kick.

This settles the home side into their rythym, both sides testing and trying to create chances as the even half progressed.

The second half was a different story though as Yeading came out sharper and faster, and certainly it seemed with more will to win.

A disjointed Stones second half performance saw them struggle and it was the 57th minute when Yeading equalised – a flat footed Stones defence allowing a cross, glanced home by Jordan. Two minutes later and the ball was lost in midfield. A Good ball forward created a chance for Campbell and he made no mistake to give the visitors the lead.

Stones struggled throughout the half but should have got level when Morgan was fouled, but Jolly’s penalty was comfortably saved.

As Stones did at least try and press for an equaliser late on, Swaysland and Tilbury both had chances, while at the other end the defence held firm, but it was not a good start to the season as Yeading had done enough to seal the win.
