Wealdstone 1 – 2 Bromley
1 - 2
Same old, same old. The season final petered out in a similar way to that in which it had been played – i just looked back through some of the match reports and could construct this one from any number of others, as Stones dominated early on, creating three chances but scoring none.
The visitors then broke, found a man unmarked and fed him the ball to score the opener from close range, before an even battle ensued up till half time, when, just before, a bit of individual skill (this time from Alexander after good play by Cooper and Gibbs) saw Stones equalise.
The second half again was fairly even, Stones perhaps having the better chances – i cant remember the visitors threatening until they scored when one defender left the ball, a second failed to react and a visiting forward struck a shot home ‘on the bounce’ from 18 yards.
A season I’m sure we are glad to see over, but importantly we have preserved our Premier League status for another season and we now have a close season to strengthen the squad – certainly at the back – and put some steel into midfield….

WEALDSTONE’S season of frustration is finally over. Even in this largely meaningless game all the same problems came to a head once again. The failure to defend competently lead to two soft Bromley goals. in attack, Wealdstone have scored almost as many as champions Braintree, but they have conceded around 50 more. All good entertainment for the neutral, but frustration for anybody on the blue side of the borough. It took 13 minutes for the first disaster, when the visitors took the lead. Jamie Palmer and Graham Hall failed to clear a hopeful punt forward and an unchallenged Stone picked up the ball to score. Earlier the Bromley keeper Walker made a hash of a clearance straight to Ben Alexander but rather than shoot first time he tried to control it and the chance evaporated.Bromley made no attempt to increase their lead but Stones took 30 minutes to exert any pressure. Moments after a Lee Chappell miss, Alexander engineered enough space to fire a low shot past Walker to equalise. In a lightning fast breakaway two minutes later Stones almost took the lead but Graeme Montgomery’s effort was wide. With the game almost an hour old, the same player saw his 25-yarder crash against the bar. Josh Cooper’s follow up effort was then acrobatically turned over by Walker. Soon after, a second defensive howler gifted Bromley the winner. Dave Ryan was distracted by Mitchell, returning from an offside position, and Stone shot low into the left-hand corner. Bromley’s Gardner nodded Palmer’s goal bound header off his line in the most lively period of the match, but the fairest result – a draw – never came, despite the amusing sight of centre-back Ryan trying his luck as a forward in a last ditch effort to equalise.
