Wealdstone 1 – 1 Ford United
1 - 1
Flow Stemmed
Wealdstone continued their recent run of better form in an entertaining draw with promotion hopefuls Ford United, a match that either side could have won, a draw eventually being a fair reflection on the play.
Stones started well and weren’t overawed by the physical presence of their opponents, creating the first opening when Swaysland just couldn’t reach an early cross from Hercules who battled well throughout the match.
The first half saw both sides create a number of chances, Wealdstone more in quantity as Hammatt, Swaysland, Wright, Hercules and Tilbury all saw efforts and half chances blocked, Chapman only called to save once, from Swaysland, while Ford only created four chances, all falling to Rose who on a better day may have scored all four but today he failed to hit the target.
An even second half followed the same pattern although Ford created a little more, their goal on 85 minutes followed a hailstorm that turned parts of the pitch to glue. A cross in stuck in the Wealdstone area and allowed Rose to turn Ramsay and he shot low into the corner for a lead that would have reflected unfairly on Stones. Not downhearted though, Stones continued to press and equalised within a minute. Tilbury placed a ball into the Ford box, only to see it returned to him some 25 yards out and his sweet volley gave the visitors no chance and it flew into the corner of the net for a worthy equaliser.
Both sides pressed for the remaining few minutes, and Andy Carter was forced to make two excellent saves, once fortunate as the ball struck the inside of the post and rolled along the goal line before it was cleared, but a fair result on the day.

Stones hold Ford to deadlock…..
AT THE White Lion Ground on Saturday, Wealdstone goalkeeper Andy Carter again had to be at the top of his form, this time to earn his side a creditable draw against the probable Ryman Division One champions.
Several excellent stops were topped by a flying acrobatic leap 10 minutes from time to deflect a goalbound effort from Aransibia on to the post and safety.
At the other end chances were fewer, but Mick Swaysland had a goalbound effort saved on the line by Chapman, and should have done better with a decent chance just after the half hour. A lovely piece of close control from Andre Scarlett led to a shot just wide of a post.
It was five minutes from time when the first goal came, Rose turning neatly to knock the ball past Carter from close in.
The visitors’ lead was to last barely a minute however as Stones’ Danny Tilbury also executed a neat turn to fire an unstoppable left foot shot past Chapman to end the game with a deserved hard-fought draw for Wealdstone.
