Wealdstone 0 – 3 Maidenhead United
0 - 3
Sorry guys, but i cant find new words for the dismal bits of yesterdays performance, so i’ll detail the goals and the good or positive points that i could take from a game only made playable by the efforts of half a dozen Stones fans who worked on the pitch throughout the morning.
Maidenhead’s first goal on 9 minutes seemed to come from a back header from Ben Martin (OG) which appeared to strand Lee Carroll as it made slow progress into the net off the inside of the post.
The better side throughout the first half, they didn’t score again until 55 minutes – a rarity this in that there was no Wealdstone error in the build up. A swift move switched the ball from right to left and a deep cross from the bye line by Smith was met on the volley by Fenton running in at the back post giving Carroll no chance.
6 or so minutes later Maidenhead scored a third when Graham Hall headed a long clearance to his left – straight into the path of Roach who made no mistake from 10 yards. It could have been 4 when a very poor penalty was awarded against Carroll, but the ‘finish’ was equally poor and was saved with some ease on 66 minutes.
Josh Cooper and Matty Gooderick both looked lively when they came into the fray and Jos Carbon worked tirelessly, as did Chris O’Leary in midfield, but to no avail as there was rarely an outlet for them when we did win the ball, that much quicker were Maidenhead in closing Stones down….

Bad day for Stones supporters…..
FOLLOWING on from the performance of hope against Chippenham a week ago comes a Wealdstone performance so inept that ranks down among the worst of recent memory.
Such is the nature of non-league football, I suppose, and two of the goals were individual errors of the sort unlikely to happen again for many years, but this was a horrid game to watch if you were a home supporter.
It didn’t help the cause that Maidenhead were gifted their opening goal courtesy of Wealdstone centre half Ben Martin, whose attempt to head clear following a long throw only managed to skim the ball off the top of his head over Lee Carroll into the far corner.
Conceding an early goal has happened a lot in this Wealdstone season but usually the side have, during the course of a game, eventually begun to play better.
On Saturday they just never got going and both Nesbit and Romeo came close to adding a second for the visitors as the half progressed.
Maidenhead keeper Peddie pulled a leg muscle in the making of a simple clearance just before half time but, fortunately, a goalkeeper was named among their substitutes and Ramos took over for the second half.
Alas, Wealdstone were playing no better and the new keeper was not tested for 15 minutes until he had to make a regulation save from a Jon Henry-Hayden shot.
By now Wealdstone had fallen a further goal behind when a cross from the left was only partially cleared and Fenton drilled home a 20-yard cross shot.
Further misery was soon inflicted following another error from Martin whose back pass was seized upon by Roach for an easy goal.
Fenton then had an effort strike a post and a penalty was awarded when Carroll downed Roach.
The keeper’s dive to his left kept the spot kick out and saved the Stones from a real humiliation.
In the later stages Wealdstone might have got a consolation goal as Josh Cooper headed wide and former Stones stalwart defender Dominic Sterling cleared an effort from Graham Hall of the line.
Wealdstone: Carroll, Carbon, Moore (Chappell 72), C Martin, B Martin, Hall, Mackie (Gooderick 72), O’Leary, O’Connell (Cooper 45), Henry-Hayden, Walshe.
