A match with little to report other than a lot of effort from both sides.
Leatherhead had the best of the early exchanges and as the game progressed it became apparent that they wanted it more. A dull first half remained scoreless as Leatherhead blocked everything Stones threw forward and the pattern was the same in the second half.
Leatherhead scored the only goal from a free kick on the edge of the box after 56 minutes, and much as Stones pressed with greater possession they did little to suggest they would score, albeit on another day they may have had two penalties, both a foul on Brian Jones and a push on lee Walker in this game coming to nothing.
A poor game to lose, but it is goals not possession that will preserve Stones status.
Honest Opinion? Leatherhead did what they set out to do, defending in numbers and snatching a goal which was enough to beat a lacklustre stones side.
