NodDing…
Not a great deal to write about in a dour battle.
Yeading started the brighter but rarely threatened and when they had a player sent off for a foul on Morgan on 38 ,minutes, they chose to defend in numbers.
It was the visitors however that had the best chance in a poor first half – awarded a penalty on the stroke of half time, it was blasted over the bar to the relief of the Stones.
The second half saw Wealdstone improve and create enough chances to win a couple of games, Holmes twice, Tilbury, Lamb and Hingley all going close, but no one was able to break the deadlock as Yeading defended in numbers, trying to break occasionally at the other end.
I’m struggling to remember a direct shot for Watts to save in the last hour, whereas Stones at least managed to threaten and on a better surface on another day may have scored three or four…
Honest Opinion? Injuries again caused changes to the Stones side, and there was a distinct lack of invention at times. A point today may eventually be enough but there will be some frayed nerves in the next month unless the goals start to go in.
Wealdstone: Watts (b61), Joyce, Tucker, Walker, Reeve, Lamb (b36), Carter (s69 Burgess), Butterfield, Morgan (s75 Hingley), Holmes, Tilbury, Sub not used: Reed
