Wealdstone 0 – 0 Banstead Athletic

A real Sunday afternoon game sums up this Trophy draw, seemingly played between two teams content to work from penalty area to penalty area, neither really breaking into the box with any vengeance.
Stones could have taken the lead after 1 minute, but Wastell saved close in from Marvin Morgan, in Stones best chance of the half.
From then on, the best offered by both sides were really shots from the edge of the box or just outside, Stones having slightly the better ratio, their six strikes from Ryan 2, Morgan 2, Mapes and Swaysland bringing saves but no great threat.
The best chance for the visitors came about when David Godfrey picked up a back pass but the free kick was struck well wide from ten yards.
The second half was of similar fare, Stones with Dave Ryan playing at the back lost their dominance in midfield and by the time injuries to White and as Shaw saw him move up, their was little chance of changing the shape of the game.
Banstead had the best chance of the half when a free header was directed just over the bar by George, and the result leaves everyone hoping for a better match on Tuesday in the replay.
