Uxbridge 1 – 3 Wealdstone
1 - 3
An enforced change in midfield as Danny Tilbury has suffered a knee injury saw the return of Daniel Julienne to an otherwise unchanged Stones side.
They started well and for long spells had Uxbridge on the back foot without really stamping their authority on the game, despite chances from Jolly, Morgan and Williams.
Stones took the lead on 40 minutes when Richard Jolly connected with a Dave Ryan cross to head home, but Stones were immediately under pressure, Carter saving well at the other end. Despite this stones did continue to press and may have gone further ahead just before the break when a free kick was well saved by Francis.
The second half saw Stones dominate the early exchanges again, Robin Tucker increasing the lead when, after the ball was cleared from a corner to Dave Ryan. He stepped inside and sent in another cross. Robin got up well to head past the home keeper.
With Stones still on top and one or two niggly exchanges taking place, Nicholls fouled Ryan having previously been booked, and he received a straight red card for the comments he made about the decision reducing Uxbridge to ten men. This at least did make the home side step up their game and they caused a little trouble, Carter’s both making important challenges and saves to prevent the home side scoring.
From an Uxbridge corner, Carter M knocked the ball clear to Jolly. His control was good on the half way line and he laid the ball back to Williams. His sweet pass split the defence and allowed Morgan to run well into the Uxbridge box – he then squared for Jolly to slot home Stones third and to finally kill the game off.
Uxbridge did score a consolation with a header from Swift from a free kick, but Stones looked comfortable throughout the game and deserved their win.
