Slough Town 1 – 0 Wealdstone
1 - 0
This one i think goes down as a bit of a bad day at the office. ..
Stones seemed to lack a spark early on and didn’t really get into the game until midway through the first half, when Jolly and Morgan both had chances. Slough though were little better excepting that they had command of the midfield but they too struggled to create chances in front of goal. It was the home side that took the lead though on 38 minutes when a break allowed Hodges to shoot along the ground from twenty five yards, but an error from Andy Carter who misjudged his position and left the shot, saw the ball roll inside the post. Five minutes later, Stones broke forward and Dave Ryan was fouled in the penalty box, but Gary McKeown repeating his penalty last week against Worthing this week saw the keeper guess the right way and make a good save.
The second half started in a similar way to the first, though Stones got into their stride a little quicker but it wasn’t until a change of formation around the hour that Stones really started to press forward. Morgan and Jolly both saw a couple of attempts saved as Stones pressed for the equaliser but it wasn’t to be, and the home side took the points with a 1-0 win.
