Potty Bar!
Potty only just describes this game, where in a fairly normal and not dirty match there were three sending’s off, five other bookings, two Wealdstone penalties (both saved, one by the centre half) and three goals.
Stones even with a depleted side were always favorites, made more so when after 10 minutes Mousicos received the first red card of the night for a two footed tackle from behind. It was a poor challenge but on a greasy pitch the red card was possible a little harsh. Stones immediately forced the Potters Bar defence to backtrack but again failed to beat the keeper, despite Tilbury and Hammatt going close – a Hammatt shot coming back off the bar from twenty five yards.
On 21 minutes the home keeper brought down Pither and was booked, but there was no further penalty as Hammatt’s shot from the spot was comfortably saved. It was on 26 minutes though that Stones took the lead when a good run from Bamgbola took him between the defenders and into the penalty box, his pass into the path of Reed was well placed and reed shot home to give Stones the lead.
Potters Bar defended well enough to snuff out most of what Stones could offer before they extended their lead on 41 minutes, a Jason Shaw corner headed home by Danny Tilbury, who could have extended the lead before half time, but it remained 2 – 0.
The second half saw the home side a little more organised and they broke out of defence on a couple of occasions, Ashton unlucky not to score at least once when denied by Carter, but on 70 minutes, home goalkeeper Mitchell again fouled in the box, bringing down Hammatt and he was sent off for a second booking. Centre Half and Captain Griggs took over in goal and saved substitute Lee Walkers penalty, diving to his left.
Two minutes later and Bryan Hammatt was sent of f it appeared for taking a kick at a defender off the ball, leaving only 19 players on the field, but the ten from Wealdstone were good enough to create pressure and a crossfield ball from Hunt to Lamb who crossed, this time Lee Walker scoring from close in to leave the final score 3 – 0 to Wealdstone.
