National League South leaders Wealdstone travelled to Wheatsheaf Park to face Staines Town in the quarter-finals of the Middlesex FA Senior Cup on Tuesday evening, keen to book their place in the semi-finals.

A first half own goal, along with a brace from Olly McCoy, a penalty from Sanchez Watt, and strikes from Kieron Cadogan, Ross Lafayette, Eric Lopes, and Sanchez Watt, sealed a comprehensive victory for the Stones.

Manager Dean Brennan made several changes to the starting line-up which produced a phenomenal performance to defeat promotion contenders Bath City on Saturday. This included debuts for new Birmingham City loanee winger McCoy, as well as former Billericay midfielder Kieron Cadogan.

It was Staines Town who took a surprise lead in the 9th minute, as Sheridan Campbell neatly finished a well-constructed move for the Swans.

The Stones drew level in the 28th minute, as Jack Jebb whipped in a teasing free kick which was diverted into the back of the net by a Swans player.

Jebb was proving a constant threat from set-pieces, producing a number of exceptional deliveries for Wealdstone, but the visitors were unable to capitalise

However, it was a resolute first half performance from Staines Town as they went into the halftime interval on level terms with the Stones, leaving the quarter-final match nicely poised.

Wealdstone were galvanised into action during the second half, increasing their attacking threat from the outset. In the 61st minute, the Stones seized the initiative, with McCoy opening his account for the club in fine style as he clinically fired past Adams from range.

Five minutes later, the visitors increased their advantage, as fellow debutant Cadogan swung in a cross from the right wing which was diverted into the goal by Adams.

Blues’ loanee McCoy, who was having an impressive debut, extended the Stones’ lead in the 71st minute, smashing a powerful low volley past Adams to complete his brace.

Top goal scorer Lafayette added to his season’s tally, thundering a fierce strike home in the 75th minute, placing Wealdstone in complete control.

Lafayette then turned provider in the 86th minute, laying the ball back to Lopes, to coolly despatch past Adams to enhance the Stones’ lead further.

Two minutes from time, Wealdstone completed the rout. Watt, who was fouled, stepped up to confidently convert from the penalty spot and send the Stones into the semi-finals.
