Leyton 3 – 0 Wealdstone

3 - 0
It was a much changed Stones side that took the field for this League cup-tie, with a number of players rested and a few carrying knocks from Saturday, but a bright start saw Danny Tilbury hit the crossbar in the first minute, Ben Alexander unable to steer the rebound home.
Stones continued to dominate the possession, but despite creating five or six chances, Tilbury, Alexander and Mapes were not able to really test the home keeper. At the other end, Andy Carter also had little to do until Wealdstone conceded a free kick just outside the box. The ball was crossed to the back post where an unmarked Fenn gave Carter no chance from close range.
The remainder of the half saw Stones create more chances, but again without testing the home custodian, some good defending and poor finishing seeing the home side maintain their lead.
The second half saw the game turn as Leyton took a little more control and on 58 minutes, Mapes lost possession on half way, the ball was knocked forward to Williams who turned away from goal at the bye line, cut inside and struck a sweet shot into the far corner to increase the lead.
There was little to stir the sparse crowd in the remainder of the match, although a triple substitution did stir Stones – Marvin Morgan was unlucky with a shot within a minute of coming on that cannoned off the post, and Hercules broke forward well but Stones offered little else before, in the last minute a swerving shot from Tucker added the home sides third goal.
