Harlow Goodbye

Wealdstone’s Harlow bogey strikes again !

No matter how well the team are playing, a visit to Harlow never bears fruit for the Stones, their recent record three defeats and a 0-0 bore draw in four visits – in fact Stones record against Harlow since turning professional thirty years ago only shows three wins in 14 matches ! So todays 2-0 defeat wasn’t a great surprise.

Stones were simply sluggish for the first hour, not threatening the host goal on a single occasion, yet allowing Harlow two goals, one on 37 minutes and the second on 62 minutes – their only two shots on target.

Harlow were stronger and sharper in all areas, but both goals came from poor defending by the Stones, the first a poor clearance directed back across the box for McNally to score, and in the second half slack marking allowed abbott to strike home the second.

Changes made by Stones Manager Gordon Bartlett did improve the performance however and for the majority of the last half hour Stones were on top. Hammett and McDonnagh both hit the post with efforts, Walker had a header cleared off the line and another inches wide, while Tilbury also had a couple of half chances,, but it was not to be Stones day, Harlow securing the points they really deserved after the first hour.
