Beacons Extinguished…
Another full blooded first team friendly this afternoon saw Wealdstone run out 3 – 0 winners over a strong Beaconsfield side.
Stones rode a physical start from their hosts and slowly began to dominate the game. After 12 minutes two corners in succession resulted in Danny Tilbury forcing the ball home from close range to give Stones the lead. An injury some five or six minutes later saw Danny Gibbs leave the field and this seemed to disrupt Wealdstone and allowed Beaconsfield back into the game, although the Stones defence coped well when called into action.
The second half saw Stones again dominate, extending their lead on the hour when good work from Stones in a period of pressure resulted in Vinny Somers shooting home from 18 yards.
The longer the game went on, the more Stones seemed to apply the pressure, forcing SYCOB back and limiting them to hopeful breaks, and this was further emphasised when on 80 minutes Danny Tilbury again collected the ball in midfield, beat two players and shot home for Stones third.
