Luv a Duck !

A superb match for the neutrals, and heart stopping stuff for the fans !

It really was an end to end match from the start, Aylesbury using their pace from the start forcing Wealdstone to defend and break away when possible, and that was the story of the first half as a whole, both sides having a number of chances, Wealdstone through Hammatt and Tilbury possibly having the better opportunity to open the lead, but on chances alone, Aylesbury had the edge, Wealdstone defending well with Reeve and Amarteifio both composed and making crucial challenges, while both goalkeepers also did all that was asked of them.

The second half started in similar vein, although Wealdstone also forced the pace, Hammatt again unlucky early on, while better finishing may have seen Aylesbury take the lead before on 59 minutes Hammatt was bundled over going for a header in the penalty area, and he collected himself to score from the spot to give Stones the lead.

Only for thirty second though, as Aylesbury powered forward from the kick off and won a corner. An in-swinger it was punched away by Carter but only as far as Honeyball who had conceded the penalty and his shot through a crowded goalmouth levelled the score.

Stones continued to press, closing down the home side deep in their own half. On 74 minutes Fergus Moore won the ball in the air, his header found Hammatt who controlled, turned and passed in one movement to Paul Lamb whose shot from fully thirty yards stranded the goalkeeper and clipped the underside of the bar on its way into the net to restore Stones lead.

Aylesbury this time pressed forward, their three substitutes all getting involved going forward, and they were awarded a free kick, somewhat harshly as both sides expected a throw in. The kick was good and deep into the box, cleared to the back post where it was returned for Clifford to equalise on 89 minutes, leaving the honours and points even after a hard fought match played in an excellent spirit.
