Bradley Bubb scored a second-half double to help Wealdstone gain a comfortable victory over struggling Truro City in the sunshine at The Vale on Saturday.

On a carpet of a pitch, Wealdstone were in control throughout the first half, but could only register the single goal to show for their efforts despite carving out some great positions from some excellent possession.

After spurning a sitter of an opportunity just 5 minutes before, the man to make the breakthrough was Bradley Hudson-Odoi, who cut in off the left wing to curl a beautiful effort into the far top corner leaving keeper Jo Jo Woolacott grasping thin air.

The Stones created some neat passages of play but failed to carve out the opening for a lethal strike, whilst winless Truro had some moments, especially from Niall Thompson, but couldn’t create a decent shooting opportunity despite some reasonable build up play.

In the second half, playing towards their massed fans at the Bulla End, the home side pulled away with star man Bradley Bubb putting on a show of skill and pace. He opened his account by collecting a short pass with his back to goal. He then turned smartly and drove away from his marker before slotting home past Woollacott who seemed to be deceived by the angle.  Wealdstone’s third goal sealed the deal, and was an example of Truro’s early season defensive struggles as a goal kick, flicked on by David Pratt, found Bubb in acres of space racing down on Truro’s exposed keeper in a classic one on one. He finished emphatically, rifling high into the net.

Truro’s main chance came to Thompson on the volley, but his goal bound effort was frustratingly hit into a teammate and away to safety for a goal kick with Jon North mightily relieved.

The Stones were not seriously troubled defensively again and Truro must be wondering where they will pick up their first win.

We  are back in action on Monday night with a squad friendly match, kick off 19:30, and then away to mid table Dulwich Hamlet (at Tooting & Mitcham FC) next Saturday, kick off 315:00
