Report – Wealdstone 6 – 1 Reading U23s
6 - 1
Elliot Benyon and Abobaker Eisa hit second-half doubles as Wealdstone thrashed Reading U23s to maintain their unbeaten start to pre-season.
The former Torquay striker and the close-season signing from Uxbridge showed clinical finishing to ruthlessly despatch Jaap Stam’s young charges and so add to wins over Fulham and Watford already this summer.
Ben House came within inches of getting his head on Teddy Howe’s eighth-minute cross from the right as Reading began brightly.
Stones though took the lead on 21 minutes, Shaquille Hippolyte-Patrick firing low past Gabe Rosario’s left hand.
The hosts doubled the advantage on 49 minutes, Benyon sending Rosario the wrong way from the spot after Matt Whichelow was bundled over by Gabriel Osho.
The penalty opened the floodgates, Whichelow teeing up Eisa for 3-0, before Benyon added the fourth from close range before the hour.
Alex Andresson’s long-range scorcher restored some pride, before Eisa was given the freedom of Grosvenor Vale to slot a fifth for Gordon Bartlett’s men.
And after a plethora of changes, substitute Michael Anastasiou drilled home the sixth to complete the rout.
