Wealdstone comfortably disposed of Hayes & Yeading United 3-0 in a drizzly encounter at Grosvenor Vale on Tuesday evening.

First half goals from Ryan Sellers, Abobaker Eisa and debutant Shaun Okojie were enough to send the Stones into the Middlesex Senior Cup quarter-finals and set up a tie against holders and National League South rivals Hampton & Richmond Borough.

Bobby Wilkinson opted to play a near full-strength side with only three changes made to the side that sealed an emphatic first away victory of the season at Welling United almost two weeks previous.

Ciaron Brown, Shaquille Hippolyte-Patrick and Sam Cox were replaced by Matty Whichelow, Luke Williams and Okojie who made his debut after signing on a month’s loan from Aldershot Town on Monday.

Despite the Stones dominance it was the visitors who started sharpest with Ismael Ehui having two efforts in the opening four minutes, one going just wide and the other deflecting out of play.

Wealdstone were then gifted a goal on six minutes. Okojie played in Sellers who had a low shot on target initially held by Hayes’ second choice keeper Luke Daley only for the ball to slide through his arms and into the net in the slippery conditions.

Daley’s evening was compounded into further misery on 23 minutes when Eisa drifted inside and unleashed a powerful effort from the edge of the box, again going through the keeper’s arms into the goal.

Eisa could have ended the half on a hat-trick, he was played in by Danny Green only to see his effort hit the side-netting and also struck an effort better than his goal, only to see Daley alert to tip it wide.

The Stones went three-nil ahead on 38 minutes after Green picked out the new-man Okojie who nodded a neat close-range header past the keeper.

Very early in the second period Williams found Whichelow perfectly with a low cross but somehow the midfielder managed to blast over from very close range.

Daley did well to deny Okojie from the edge of the box and Green had a corner swerve goalward only to be headed off the line in a more relaxed second half, with other notes being Mustafa Tiryaki making his competitive Stones debut and more worryingly Alan O’Brien hobbling off injured in stoppage time with a hamstring.

The Stones will play Hampton & Richmond Borough  in the quarter-final in the New Year but in the meantime host Wilkinson’s former club Hungerford Town at The Vale for a massive league clash this Saturday.

WEALDSTONE: North, Oshodi, Sellers, Olomowewe, Day, Williams, Whichelow (O’Brien 65), Okimo, Okojie (Tiryaki 60), Green, Eisa (Fitchett 60). Subs not used: Brown, Ngamvoulou.
