Report – Wealdstone 1 – 1 Hemel Hempstead Town
1 - 1
Danny Green’s late equaliser rescued a point for Wealdstone against Hemel Hempstead Town in a fiery encounter at Grosvenor Vale in which both teams had a man sent off.
Kyle Connolly gave the Tudors an 18th minute lead before Aryan Tajbakhsh received his marching orders just two minutes later. Callum Driver then saw red for the visitors in the 71st before Green left it late to grab a point which was the least the Stones deserved.
Gordon Bartlett made just one change to the side that lost 5-1 to Eastbourne Borough with Matty Whichelow replacing Joe White.
Wealdstone spent much of the opening period in the ascendancy and Ricky Wellard was denied by a smart Jamie Butler stop just 10 minutes in.
The visitors then took the lead when Driver’s header came off the post into Connolly’s path who then squirmed a shot just underneath the oncoming Jonathan North.
Tajbakhsh then received his marching orders for an off the ball incident with Charlie Sheringham just two minutes later.
The Tudors struggled to break out of their own half despite the man advantage and were then down to ten on 71 minutes when Driver kicked Ryan Sellers off the ball.
And it was the careless Driver’s dismissal that spurred the home side on. Substitute White missed from just two yards out in the 88th minute from an Elliot Benyon knock down.
But when it seemed that their luck was out the Stones got their just rewards a minute later; a cross was cleared to Green on the edge of the area, he persisted to get a shot away and at the third attempt slotted underneath Butler to level the score.
But it was too late for the Stones to fashion a winner and the score remained level despite the home side playing much of the game in Hemel’s half with attack after attack.
Wealdstone: North, Oshodi, Sellers, Brown, Hamblin (Benyon 77), Tajbakhsh, Wellard (Wright 36), Cox, Fitchett (White 84), Whichelow, Green. Subs not used: Godfrey, Parker.
