Changes to the play-offs format 2017/18

National League Chief executive Michael Tattersall has confirmed a brand new lay out regarding promotion play-off arrangements for next season.

Tattersall explained last week that the top 7 clubs next season will now finish in a promotion position. The winners of course go up automatically, but the following six will now compete in the new look playoffs.

He confirmed: “Under the new format, all playoff matches will be played over a single leg in a qualifying round, semi final and promotion final. “The club finishing 2nd and 3rd will automatically proceed to a semi final at their home ground. “The clubs in 4th and 5th will stage qualifying round ties against the teams finishing 7th and 6th. “The winners of those matches will then complete the semi final line up. “
