Whitehawk 3 – 0 Wealdstone
3 - 0
Wealdstone put in one of their poorest shifts of the season and as a consequence seemingly handed all three points to the South Coast side with a lamentable display.
The writing was on the exposed chalk walls of Whitehawk’s eccentric stadium as early as the 10th minute as Hawks’ Mike West fired an unstoppable volley past keeper Jonathan North.
Unfortunately matters would not improve for Stones whose unusual personnel formation appeared to confuse their supporters as much as the players.
Soon after, an equally unusual defensive error from striker Bradley Hudson-Odoi then compounded the poor performance being offered up. The front man lost out badly to Hawks David Martin. Martin then found Danny Mills who easily got past the exposed North and scored the easiest of goals.
Stones were embarrassed but were sadly unable to galvanise and get going for the remainder of a hugely forgettable half.
The second half saw some improvement from Wealdstone but any thoughts of a revival were scotched when Josh McLleod-Urquhart brought down Alex Osborn in the area and Martin accepted the gift to convert.
Stones did finally rally and were unlucky not to pull a goal or two back from Scott Davies and sub Jefferson Louis, but on a day when little went right for the away side, Craig Ross saved well.
Stones still have much work to do in their remaining games, starting next Saturday at home to Maidenhead United.
In between Wealdstone have arranged a useful friendly match on Monday evening (11 April) versus Staines Town kick-off 7.45pm.
