Wealdstone 1 – 2 QPR U21’s
1 - 2
In what was a very early work out for Wealdstone, in a very entertaining friendly at the Freebets.co.uk Stadium on Saturday, a youthful QPR side edged out the Stones.
Rangers played some very impressive keep ball football in the first period restricting Wealdstone’s new look starting line-up featuring most of Gordon Bartlett’s new summer signings.
QPR enjoyed the vast majority of possession and used this effectively when they took the lead after only 4 minutes play when the impressive Ryan Manning got on the end of a four man move and lashed the ball past Jonathan North
Stones stuck to their guns and defended in depth as Rangers passed the ball to death with aplomb.
A rare break from Stones though resulted in an equaliser after 18 minutes. Wes Parker leapt highest to a corner and his strength saw the ball headed powerfully home past Conor Hudnot.
Rangers pressed back on the offensive and their possession paid off with what proved to be the winning goal 7 minutes before half time. Brandon Adams neatly turned just outside the box and fired past North.
With multiple substitutions in the second period Stones looked much more comfortable, seeing more of the ball, and all replacements, including several trialists looked lively, producing some better, incisive, play. Sahr Kabba was the busiest and brought a great save from sub keeper Marcin Brozowski
Wealdstone Starting XI: North, Urquhart, Smith, Parker, Hamblin, Godfrey, Wellard, Hunt, Benyon, Green, Wright
