Wealdstone 1 – 2 Leyton Orient
1 - 2
In an impressive display on Tuesday evening Wealdstone narrowly lost to Football League opponents Leyton Orient; a flurry of first half action saw the visitors grab and then hold onto a 2-1 victory.
The Stones took an early lead through Eddie Oshodi but goals from Jay Simpson and Sandro Semedo sealed the friendly win for the League Two side.
Orient almost got off to a perfect start just 80 seconds in when former Wealdstone loanee Gavin Massey shrugged off Josh Urquhart and laid the ball off to Jordan Bowery whose powerful effort was only parried by Jonathan North; thankfully Liam Kelly blasted the rebound over the bar.
But Stones went ahead three minutes later when David Hunt’s excellent free kick was headed down in the box for Oshodi to slot the ball home.
The O’s equalised on 25 minutes when the ball was lost in the middle of the park by the hosts. The tricky Massey won the ball back from Urquhart’s attempt to tackle and skipped past two Stones defenders before laying the ball off to Jay Simpson on the edge of the area who had time to slot the ball past North into the keepers left-hand corner.
Orient took the lead seven minutes later when Semedo went one-on-one with Oshodi before cutting inside and unleashing a venomous effort past North into the far bottom corner.
The second half failed to bring as much action as the first but substitutes Josh Hutchinson and Sahr Kabba linked well up top and created several chances.
The assured Oshodi also had a header blocked on the line and an effort which hit the side-netting but the East Londoners showed their quality and just held firm in the latter stages.
