Stones sign Ricky Wellard and Steve Newing joins Management Team

Ricky-WellardWealdstone have made their fourth new summer signing with the capture of 6’4″ former AFC Wimbledon midfielder RICKY WELLARD. Gordon Bartlett’s patience has been finally been rewarded as he tried to sign the creative ball player as a youngster when he was at Ashford 8 seasons ago!

28 year old Wellard was at league rivals Hemel Hempstead Town for a period last season but counts Cambridge United, Salisbury City and Welling United amongst his previous clubs.

Wealdstone CEO Mark Winkworth said: ‘”We are really pleased that Ricky has put pen-to-paper and committed his future to the Stones. Ricky will add greatly to our midfield and his guile on the ball will allow us to create more in the forward areas . As importantly, his experience at the heart of the AFC Wimbledon team that won promotion to the Football League is exactly what our club needs to drive forward with its ambitions.”
