A second-half master-class saw Wealdstone beat Oxford City 3-0 on a beautiful late-summer’s evening at Marsh Lane.

Goals from Danny Green, Omar Koroma and Elliot Benyon picked off an Oxford City side which seemed impenetrable in the first half.

Wealdstone named an unchanged eleven and substitute’s bench from the team that beat Margate 2-1 on Saturday.

Both sides shared a couple of half-chances in a drab first half with Benyon and Tom Hamblin having headed strikes, but an assured defensive display from the hosts kept the Stones quiet.

The best chance of the half fell to Oxford City when a free-kick flicked over the top to Liam Enver-Marum left the Oxford number 9 with plenty of time, he squared a low, sharp cross past the face of goal and Tom Cadmore nipped in ahead of an Oxford player to knock the ball narrowly past the post for a corner.

Hamblin was then spared blushes by Jonathan North in the 35th minute when his fluffed clearance was well saved by the keeper.

But the Stones were straight out of the traps in the second half and went ahead through Green on the 47th minute after an intricate touch from Benyon put him through on goal to slot past Jack Stevens.

Benyon should have doubled the lead five minutes later when he linked up well with Green again before the midfielder whipped in a precise cross, but the striker knocked his free header straight at Stevens.

City were shell-shocked and on 66 minutes Koroma gave the Stones a deserved 2-0 lead. A poor clearance from Godfrey Poku was straight at Matty Whichelow who played in Koroma on the left wing. The Gambian winger cut inside and unleashed a beautiful curling effort into the far top corner.

It was three just 5 minutes later when Dylan Williams played the ball to Koroma on the edge of the box, but he dummied it to Hamblin who swung in a cross to the unmarked Benyon at the far post. The striker had the time to bring the ball down and slot past Stevens to take his Stones goal tally to four in four.

The Stones then saw the game out comfortably to cap a delightful away performance in Oxfordshire. WEALDSTONE: North, Oshodi, McLeod-Urquhart, Cadmore, Hamblin (c), Wellard, Whichelow, Green, Benyon (Hutchinson 86), Koroma (Kabba 79), Williams (Godfrey 76) Unused subs: McGleish, Smith
