Maidenhead Utd – Sat 16 April – KO 3.00pm

We welcome Maidenhead Utd to the Freebets.co.uk Stadium this Saturday (16 April) for our penultimate home National League South fixture of the 2015/16 season kick off 3.00pm

Our visitors are right in the mix with 5 other teams looking to secure a play-off off position having won 16, drawn 9 and lost 14 scoring 64 and conceding 58 goals so far this season. On Saturday they suffered a minor set-back when beaten at home 1-0 by St. Albans City. Stones will be looking to bounce back from the 3-0 reverse at Whitehawk as we continue to look to put points on the board from our remaining four games.

Gold_Amateur_ CupToday we also welcome the WFC 1966 Amateur Cup Winners along with a number of other distinguished players and officials for a 50th Anniversary Celebration Lunch which has been kindly sponsored by  Innvotec Limited a long established (1989) FCA regulated venture capital fund manager which is owned by its directors and staff. Speaking earlier this week  John Marsden, Managing Director  said “Innvotec is very proud to be the sponsor of the 1966 Wealdstone FC Amateur Cup reunion lunch”

Attendees at the luncheon include the 9 survivors from the final; Mickey Doyle, Gordon Sedgley, Charlie Townsend, John Ashworth, Eddie Dillsworth, Brian Allen, Jim Cooley, Hugh Lindsay & Bernie Bremer (sadly Brian Goymer and Bobby Childs are no longer with us). From Hendon FC and an ex-Wealdstone player Geoff Riddy plus the Amateur Cup Final referee Norman Burtenshaw OBE.

Additionally we also welcome former players Matt Farrell, Arthur Peel, John Moran Roy Gibbons, Mick Yallop & Mick Hughes .

The FA Amateur Cup will be paraded by ‘The Team of 66’ prior to the kick off so make sure you are in the ground in good time.

The players will be in the bar after the match to meet with spectators, have their photo taken and sign autographs.  Spectators will also be able to have your photo taken with the trophy.

To accommodate this event there are a small number of changes to the usual match-day arrangements:

  • Parking on-site will be limited to players, officials and those former players and guests attending the luncheon ONLY .

Look out for the boys and girls from the Anytime Fitness Gym (the worlds largest 24 hour gym and fitness chain).  Anytime Fitness Ruislip, Ruislip Manor’s brand new 24 hour gym is on the corner of Windmill Hill and Pembroke Road, 100m from Ruislip Manor station. It is a local, friendly, community gym which opened for business on 1st February 2016 and already has over 500 members. The gym is equipped with the latest, top of the range, internet and TV linked, Precor equipment. It also has a large, well equipped free weights area.

Matt Capp, the Owner of Anytime Fitness Ruislip, is a close friend of Wealdstone FC. Matt knows and played with (and against) a number of old players, including Arthur Peel, who won the Amateur Cup with Hendon before moving to Wealdstone FC, and who will be attending the 50th Anniversary Celebration Lunch.

Matt, who himself played a couple of seasons at the ground for Ruislip Manor in the mid-1980’s, said “Sponsoring our local Club was an easy decision. It is a tremendous pleasure for us to be associated with such a great name in non-league football. We wish Wealdstone all the best this afternoon and for the remainder of the season.”

Please say “hello” to Matt and his manager, Josh, at their bright purple gazebo which will be located outside the social club on Saturday from 12 noon. They will be offering a FREE 3-day trial membership to the gym, so why not take advantage of this great opportunity!

There will also be a Bucket Collection at the game as part of the National League campaign in support of the Bobby Moore fund.

Get behind the lads from the off and make plenty of noise for the 90+ minutes as we go in search of another 3 points on Saturday.

Parking, further to the above please park in the side streets near to the ground or use  one of the  pay & display car parks which are within 10–12 minutes walk of  the stadium (see map HERE for assistance). Please be aware the Local Hillingdon Traffic Enforcement Department will be out and about and if you happen to park your vehicle inappropriately in the one of  the side streets you are likely to get a ticket. You have been warned!

Make sure you pick-up your match-day programme (£2.50) on your way-in to the stadium and your golden goals tickets (£1 a ticket, first goal wins £50 last goal wins £10). The @Rollin’Kitchen will be turning out hot food & drinks from 13:30 and the tea bar in the ground will be providing hot & cold drinks and nibbles as usual.

Match day Admission is £12 Adults, £7 Concession and £2 Under 16’s.
