Wealdstone vs Hampton & Richmond Borough -MSC Final – @ The Vale Sat 3 May KO 4.00pm – Match Preview

Wealdstone will be looking to collect their second piece of silverware this season, when they take on Hampton & Richmond Borough in the Middlesex Senior Cup final at The Vale on Saturday. The game represent The Stones’ final outing before preparations fully begin for life in the Conference, and signing off with another trophy would be the cherry on top of a hugely successful campaign.

Gordon Bartlett’s side come into the match having recently been crowned Ryman Premier champions, storming the league by an impressive eleven points, although victory at home to Canvey Island last weekend was just the first in three games. Wealdstone defeated Uxbridge, AFC Hayes and Harefield United to reach this year’s final, while their opponents saw off challenges from Wembley, Northwood and Hendon.

The Beavers finished twelfth in the Ryman Premier, 32 points behind Wealdstone, though you can never to read too much into statistics such as that on occasions such as these. Borough suffered defeat in their final two games of the season, but will take heart from the fact that they ran out 3-1 winners when the teams last met in December.

Both sides have a great history in the competition, with The Stones lifting the trophy an incredible ten times, most recently in 1985, and Borough triumphing on three occasions, the latest being in 2012. The league champions will be without goalkeeper Jonathan North, who is suspended, as they go in search of claiming their first double in twenty-nine years.
