Wealdstone 2 -1 Dagenham & Redbridge
2 - 1
Wealdstone put in a very solid shift during their first home friendly match on Tuesday evening overcoming League Two outfit Dagenham & Redbridge.
Despite a shaky start during which a strong Daggers side took a 4th minute lead from their striker Ashley Chambers, Stones composed themselves moving the ball around progressively and went on to largely dominate proceedings after a superb Luke Pigden free kick had leveled the scores 7 minutes later.
Wealdstone looked defensively very sound throughout with Tom Hamblin particularly outstanding at centre half but it was man of the match Joe Turner who provided the assist for Michael Malcolm to sweep the ball past the Dagenham keeper on 56 minutes. Substitute ‘keeper Warren Carter maintained Stones lead with a great save late on but this was an encouraging start for the newly promoted home side.
The only disappointment on the night was a nasty looking shin injury sustained by sub Johnny Wright
Wealdstone: North, Hammond, Okimo, Hamblin, Cronin, Martin, Turner, Pigden, McGleish, Godfrey, Little. Subs used: Mills, Carter (GK), Collins, Wright, Hickey, Malcolm, Bentley
