Wealdstone remain looking for their first win of the Vanarama Conference South after being comprehensively outplayed on Saturday by a very strong Bromley side.

Stones can draw little comfort from a torrid afternoon and were found wanting in most departments. One of very few bright moments for the home side came 15 minutes into the second half when, incredibly, Jonathan North pulled off this third consecutive penalty save of the season to keep his side in the game at that point, but it was all in vain as Bromley continued to dominate and counter with menace.

Stones fell behind as early as 4 minutes when poor defending from a free kick allowed Damian Scannell to power home a header. Moments later Adam Birchall contrived to blast over with the goal at his mercy. But it wasn’t long before some excellent and incisive midfield play allowed the dangerous Louis Dennis to shoot home past the exposed North. Stones fought back and gained more possession but continually shot themselves in the foot by stray passing and poor decision making. The home side’s best and only real chance of the first half came from Joe Turner whose smart strike was just off target.

After a much higher tempo start to the second period, Stones eventually pushed four strikers up in an attempt to pull a goal back and matters looked hopeful, but after sub Tom Collins had drawn a great save from Bromley keeper Seb Brown it was business as usual with the visitors breaking and countering with speed and constant goal threat. North brilliantly blocked a Birchall one on one and then leapt like a salmon to majestically save the same player’s well struck spot kick after O’Nien had been penalised for a clumsy challenge in the box.

North then saved again but the inevitable 3rd and then 4th goals came after Stones struggled to turn possession into end product finding no way past Bromley’s towering defence. Pierre Joseph-Dubois and sub Moses Ademola scored the remaining goals as Wealdstone disappointingly showed little resistance and Bromley asserted their undoubted class on the day.
