Stones v Swans – 6 Dec – The Vale – KO 3.00pm
This Saturday we welcome Staines Town to The Vale for our latest Vanarama South fixture kick-off 3.oopm. Stones are on a roll at the moment and will be looking to build on their fine 3-0 demolition of fellow Conference side St. Albans City on Tuesday night in the FA Trophy reply match. Our visitors were also in FA Trophy replay action on Tuesday losing out to Southern League side Poole Town on penalties.
Another great afternoon is in prospect at The Vale with the WD postcode promotion, which allows anyone residing in the WD Postcode area admission to the game for half the normal entry price (i.e. just £6 Adults, or just £3.50 Concessions,) provided they show proof of residence e.g. utility bill etc. The Club will also be running the ‘Guess the Crowd’ competition whereby you can tweet your estimate of the likely attendance to @pressoffwfc before noon on Saturday. The winner (closest guess) will win a Stones goodie bag and a Hornets goodie bag; The Club will also offer board room hospitality for the winner and a guest at a future Stones game.
This weekend also sees the start of ‘Football Remembers Week’. Over this weekend and during the next week there are a series of events being organised by the Premier League, The FA, The Football League and The Football Conference to commemorate one of the most iconic moments of the First World War, the 1914 Christmas Truce football matches. The first Football Remembers Week activity of is called ‘A Moment in History’. To celebrate the spirit of the Christmas Truce football matches of 1914, football teams across the country are being asked to have a pre-match group photograph taken together and upload them via social media with the hashtag #FootballRemembers. All 22 players and the match officials who are part of today’s match are having their picture taken together prior to kick-off. You’ll be able to see the photo at the website FootballRemembers.com
We are also expecting an appearance from Mr Gordon Hill aka ‘The Wealdstone Raider’ and of course the ever excellent match-day food prepared by The Rollin Kitchen team makes The Vale the place to be on Saturday afternoon – make sure you are there.
Admission is £12 adults, £7 Concessions and £2 for Under 16’s – as ever we are running our normal promotion of holders of a Season Ticket for another club (except our match day opponents) can get entry into The Vale for just £6 on production of said ST.
