Next up – Stones v Saints – The Vale – Sat 20th Sep

This Saturday, 20th Sep,  we welcome St. Albans City to The Vale for our latest Vanarama Conference South fixture kick-off 3.00pm. Our visitors secured promotion from the Southern League via the play-offs last season and are likely to include a number of familiar faces when we meet on Saturday. That said despite there being a relatively short distance between where the teams play we have not actually met each other in first team league action since the 1970/71 season when both clubs were in the old Isthmian League.

whitehawk_vs_wealdstone_160914_025The mood in the camp has been lifted with a fine all round performance from the team on Tuesday night with a 1-0 win courtesy of a first half goal from Luke Pigden at Whitehawk. After the game manager Gordon Bartlett shared his thoughts with the Harrow Times –  “We didn’t let things worry us and kept focused. We showed a lot of resilience and pride for the badge. I can’t praise them highly enough because Whitehawk are a damned good side. “It was made all the better by the circumstances. When you have not won a game and you’re away to Whitehawk, who are on a good run, then you fear the worst. “But our attitude, work ethic, character and commitment was all evident. They showed the passion and desire which has been questioned in the last two games and proved it was there in abundance.”

More of the same please on Saturday and for the rest of the season.
