Match Preview – Wealdstone vs Lowestoft Town @ The Vale Sat 8th Feb

Wealdstone play Lowestoft Town on Saturday for the second time in five days, hoping to close the gap to the top of the Ryman Premier League table. 

Having led the way for a number of weeks, third-place Stones now sit five points off the summit, but with three games in hand over the top two they are still very much in the promotion mix.  After back-to-back defeats for the first time this season, Wealdstone have picked up four points from their last two games, with victory at home to Bury Town coming before Tuesday’s point away to Lowestoft.  

The Trawler Boys currently occupy seventh position in the league table, six points short of the play-off places, but with one away defeat in the league since early October, they present Gordon Bartlett’s side with a stern test. The two sides drew 1-1 at Crown Meadow on Tuesday night, setting the weekend’s clash up nicely. Scott McGleish gave the visitors the lead on the stroke of half-time, intercepting Andrew Fisk’s back pass to notch his 20^th goal of the season. However, the Suffolk outfit responded well after the interval, and within ten minutes had equalised thanks to striker Jake Reed.  

Defender Tom Hamblin is a doubt for the match, but Jonny Wright is available again to bolster The Stones’ front line for a game where three home points are vital.

Admission is £10 adults, £5 concession and £2 for Under 16′s – don’t forget that if you are a season ticket holder for another club (except for our visitors of course) admission is just £5.

Another weekend where the Met & Piccadilly Line services to Ruislip/Ruislip Manor are not operating due to planned engineering work. The Central Line to Ruislip Gardens will be operating a normal service (out of the station, then a 12 minute walk along West End Road until you reach Grosvenor Vale – or cross the road from the station and jump on the E7 bus to Grosvenor Vale)
