Next up – Enfield Town @ The Vale Sat 15th Dec
It will feel like Wealdstone are renewing old rivalries with promoted Enfield Town at The Vale on Saturday and a large crowd is anticipated as memories are cast back to famous derby clashes of the 1980s before bad fortune befell both clubs.
Enfield Town were really borne out of the ashes of the demise the Southbury Road Ground and are a fans owed club that broke away from the original club following a lengthy and much documented dispute with the then Chairman. Last season the Towners celebrated moving into a new stadium after a £6 million refurbishment at the 2,500-capacity Queen Elizabeth II Stadium, in Donkey Lane, very near the old Southbury Road venue.
After defeat at bogey side Lowestoft last Saturday – only their second in the league this campaign – Stones will be eager to get back to winning ways and make ground on the leading pair, whilst Enfield will see this clash as an opportunity to move up the table after some mixed results so far, although their Manager Steve Newing will be happy with progress to date in a tough league. Stones should have a full squad available for selection including new signing Chris Moore who made his debut at Lowestoft, although Nathan Webb could be an injury doubt.
