George Ruffell Memorial Shield

On Tuesday evening, Staines Town of the Blue Square Bet Conference South will entertain Ryman League side Wealdstone for the annual George Ruffell Memorial Shield match.

Tuesday evening’s fixture will be the 11th staging of the match in memory of George Ruffell, who was Treasurer of the Association from 1986 until his passing in 1998. George was an MCFA Councillor for some 18 years and held many offices within the Association. The match kicks-off at 7.30pm and, as in previous years, all proceeds will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Senior Cup holders Staines Town will be looking to retain the Shield, having defeated North Greenford United on penalties in last season’s match. Senior Charity Cup holders Wealdstone will be looking to lift the trophy for the first time, having been beaten by Hendon in their previous appearance in the match.

Admission is just £5 for adults and £3 for concessions and a full colour 32-page programme is available priced at just £2.
